Why this page exists
Meta requires a public way for people to request deletion of data an app collected from Instagram or Facebook. Speddle also lets customers delete data themselves in the product.
Delete data inside Speddle
If you have a Speddle account:
- Disconnect Instagram: go to Dashboard → Settings → Instagram, type DISCONNECT, and confirm. We delete the stored access token and stop processing comments for that account.
- Delete a workspace: go to Settings → Workspace, type the workspace name and DELETE. This removes the workspace’s Instagram connections, flows, events, and leads.
- Close the account: email privacy@speddle.com from your login email and ask us to delete the Speddle user account after the workspace is gone.
Request deletion by email
Email privacy@speddle.com with the subject “Data deletion request.” Include:
- The email on your Speddle account, or
- Your Instagram username if you never created a Speddle account (for example, you commented on a creator who uses Speddle), and
- What you want deleted: Instagram connection only, specific leads, or everything.
We verify the request and complete it within 30 days, usually faster. We may ask a short follow-up question if we cannot uniquely identify the records.
Requests sent through Facebook or Instagram
If you remove Speddle from Facebook’s Apps and Websites settings and send a data deletion request, Meta POSTs a signed request to our callback. We then:
- Verify the signature with our Instagram app secret.
- Delete stored Instagram tokens and platform records for that user ID.
- Return a confirmation code and a status URL.
Status URLs look like /data-deletion/status/your-code. Keep the code Meta shows you if you want to check progress.
What we delete
- Encrypted Instagram access tokens
- Connected account username, name, profile image URL, and Instagram user ID
- Comment events, inbox history, conversations, and leads tied to that Instagram identity
- On workspace deletion: flows and workspace membership as well
We may retain a minimal record of the deletion request (confirmation code, timestamp, and that the request was completed) so we can show status and meet legal obligations.
Commenters who are not Speddle customers
If you commented on a creator’s Instagram post and Speddle stored your username as a lead, you can email privacy@speddle.com with your Instagram username. We will delete matching lead records we can identify. You can also ask the creator to delete the lead in their Speddle workspace.
